Steam supply
This example shows study of safety and availability consideration of a steam supply system. Steam
is generated by several suppliers (orange boxes). The pressure supply is regulated by different
reducing and let down stations.
In this particular scenario several consumers trip suddenly (red box, figure 2). The system response
is investigated.
Figure 3 shows the pressure change with time in the vicinity of one of the blow-off valves. The
pressure reaches approx. 95 bar within 6 minutes. This is an indication of inadequate system control
and long reaction times of the steam generators and other regulating components.
The system is adapted accordingly and optimized to yield best operation possible,
